Torn from You (Tear Asunder, #1)

★★★★★ 4.5 We're Only Broken When We're Apart stars!

Torn From You was one of those books that starts out with a bang. It's one of those books that manages to capture your attention from the very first page until the very last one, it manages to suck you in until you've reached the final line. The prologue itself was pretty romantic and sweet but then the story takes a complete turn. The first half of the story is quite dark, gritty and emotional and had a bit of a CITD-vibe. The second half was much tamer, but no less eventful and captivating. The author has done an incredible job at creating a unique story that constantly kept me on my toes and I enjoyed reading every second of it!

Emily's quiet and carefully constructed life suddenly takes a dark turn when she ends up kidnapped and tied up by a group of unpredictable and dangerous men. Then, when her boyfriend Sculpt suddenly shows up among the men, she thinks he's there to save her. But, she couldn't have been more wrong.

"I'm scared."
"You should be."

It makes no sense for him to be there. When she first met him a few months ago at an underground fight, he's the one who agreed to teach her how to fight after she was attacked by someone on the street. He's the one who thought her how to defend herself and how to hide her fear. Now, he's suddenly the one threatening her. She had no idea what his intentions are and how she's ever going to escape the impenetrable walls of the dark place where she's being held...

"You will fear me, Emily. And if you don't…I will make you."

Sculpt/Logan is one of those tortured, confused characters with a scarred past that you love to hate and hate to love. In the beginning of the story I pictured him to be the sexy as hell musician with a tattooed body and a heart of gold. Then, when he became one of Emily's captors I started to hate him for what he did. But, throughout the story he managed to win me over again with (view spoiler).

"What we had, we can't get back, Sculpt."
"We can, 'cause it never fuckin' left."

I feel like I really can't say much more about the storyline, because that would spoil your reading experience. You just have to read it for yourself and let it surprise you along the way. That's what the story did to me, it kept surprising me the entire time I was reading it and despite all the anguish and tension I felt while reading it, I ended up loving it! Aside from Logan and Emily, I also loved all the side characters. Especially Ream and Kat and I can't wait to read their story in the next part of the series! For those interested in whether or not there's a happy ending: (view spoiler).
