Review:
★★★★★ 5 Killer Queen Stars!
L.H. Cosway has done it again. So far I've loved every single one of her books that I've read and Killer Queen was no exception. As a companion novel to Painted Faces, which was one of my favorite stories of last year, Killer Queen tells the story of Freda and Nicholas/Vivica Blue through Viv's eyes. Not only do we get a retelling of book one from Viv's POV, but the author also provides some extra scenes that give us much clearer view of Viv’s personality and some that allow us a glimpse into the future of Viv and Freda's life.
Fred and Viv are some of the most unique and complex characters I've ever come across (especially Viv), but they make such an endearing couple and they complement each other perfectly. Freda never once judges Nicholas for his alternate lifestyle; on the contrary, she encourages him to be who he really is and to allow others to love him in all his unique ways. And Nicholas on the other hand, is the first one to finally appreciate Fred and the beauty she has to offer. I won’t go into much more detail about the storyline, but I will say that Killer Queen is filled with moments of joy, moments of sadness and plenty of moments that made me laugh out loud. Especially Fred’s sarcastic sense of humor made the story all the more fun to read.
Although this can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading Painted Faces first. That way you’ll have a much fuller and more enjoyable reading experience with a little more background information on all the characters. For fans of Painted Faces, Killer Queen is an absolute MUST READ. If you’re as big a fan as I am of L.H. Cosway’s unique, easy flowing writing style and of the absolutely memorable characters Fred and Viv, I can assure you, you don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to catch up with them once again.
