Karina Halle Donners of the Dead

***A Standalone Horror Romance ***
A note about this book: Donners of the Dead is set in 1851 – couples were often thrust into marriage together with short courtships, racism was widespread and not overly frowned upon, and women had little to no rights. What wouldn't fly in today's day and age was unfortunately the norm back then - it is worth keeping that in mind when reading this book.

Synopsis
Jake McGraw was unlike anyone I’d ever known. He was brash, rude, unapologetic and arrogant; chauvinistic, close-minded, and terribly stubborn. He was built like a tree, tall with a hard chest and wide shoulders and hands that looked like they could wrestle a bear. He was a cigar-chomping, scruffy-faced, beast of a man. I was pretty sure I hated him. And I know he hated me. But among the flesh-eating monsters in these snow-capped mountains, he was the only thing keeping me alive
The year is 1851 and pioneers in search of California gold are still afraid to travel on the same route as the tragic Donner party did years before. When the last wagon train to go into the Sierra Nevada mountains fails to arrive at their destination, Eve Smith, an 18-year old half-native girl with immense tracking skills is brought along with the search party, headed by an enigmatic former Texas Ranger, Jake McGraw.
What they find deep in the dangerous snow-covered terrain is a terrifying consequence of cannibalism, giving new meaning to the term “monster.” While the search party is slowly picked off, one by one, Eve must learn to trust Jake, who harbors more than a few secrets of his own, in order to survive and prevent the monstrosities from reaching civilization.

REVIEW
 5 SCARY STARS!!!!

Wow that was a creepy rollercoaster!!!This is different from Karina's other books!!It's a historical romance! It's full of action, zombies and there is also romance!!Omg this book it was really scary!! I'm not sure if I can sleep the nights withough thinking how scary it was!Absolutelly fantastic!!

This book is based on actual events!I loved when a fictional story waves in real events!

Did you know about the Donner Party???I didn't know..and for me it was really interesting! I want to know more about the actual events that transpired with the Donner party!!

This book take place in 1851 soon after the Donner Party rescue.. Eve is an 18-year old half-native girl with immense tracking skills..Her father disappears into the mountains. Then one day a group of rough men come into town seeking Eve for her tracking skills to track and look for possible Donner Party survivors. This group is inclouded by five men..and one of them is  an enigmatic Texas Ranger  Jake McGraw.

The mountains hide secrets..

The creatures in these mountains were called many different things... and, it was a mystery as to where they came from. The only truth is that they are really scary!!

Eve and Jake were an unexpected couple..There is tension between them..and at the beginning you are not sure if there will be anything between them.I loved how things developed for them!! While at first they seem to hate each other, Jake and Eve come to need each other in more ways other than just staying alive. ..

Eve was a strong and capable heroine like all Karina's heroine!!I liked and admired Eve from the beginning!!And Jake was mysterious and sexy!!I liked him from the time he called Eve Pine Nut :))

The action in this book will keep you interesting from the begining until the end!! f you are looking for a romantic thriller this is what you need!!
